Football fanatic family names

After confessing my name obsession to a colleague she told me about her nieces and nephews names.  Her brother is a mad-keen supporter of Australian football team the Richmond Tigers, so much so that he named his first son Richmond.

Child #2 was a boy - Tasman (inspired by the fact that there is a Tasmanian tiger).

Child #3 was a girl.  Parents decided that the dad could name the boys, and the mum would name the girls, so mum chose Eden (not sure if any particular reason behind this name).

Child #4 was a girl.  Mum again got naming rights.  Little girl was born with special needs and severe health problems, and was named Grace, as a nod them feeling she was here 'by the grace of God'.

Child #5 was a boy.  Mum was surpised that Dad chose Isaiah, as it was seemingly unconnected to his previously chosen football names.  Dad revealed that now his kids initials (not in order) can spell TIGER.

If I hadn't actually met this person, I don't think I would believe this story!  Sheesh!

It seems like a better tactic to me than naming a child after a sports star and then having that fellow turn out to beat his wife or have shot someone or something!

That's one generous wife. We made a deal that my husband could name the pets and I could name the children, after he started naming his parakeets after West Coast Eagles legends (one is blue, the other yellow). It was a bit awkward when we discovered Woosha was a girl.
