Getting Close and need a boy name!

We don't know what we are having but our last name is Gold and we are using the initials AB in that order.

Some names on our list are Asher, Andrew, Alex, Aaron, Allen and Aryeh. Middles... Bennett, Benjamin, Baxter... Any thoughts on these or others that you love?

We don't want the name to be overly unique but not super common either... Help would be greatly appreciated as we are getting down to the wire!!

Thank you so much!

I heard Arnold at the park the other day for a toddler and thought it was super cute.  Another possibility is Arthur.  I'm not a fan of Aryeh; I think it would be a difficult name for a child to bear.

From your A list my favorite is Asher, followed closely by Alex (though I prefer Alexander). Allen, Andrew and Aaron are a bit dated I think - they all feel like names I expect to hear on men my own age. There's nothing wrong with them, and a family connection would sway me in favor of one, but they aren't ones I would be excited to use on a baby. I like Aryeh, but I could see it causing difficulties. Both because of the spelling and the similarity to Arya/Aria. Other A names I like; Abram, Arthur. Or what about Anders? That feels a bit fresher to me than Andrew but still familiar.

For B names I like Bennett and Benjamin. Baxter is too surname-y for my taste, runs the risk of sounding like a law firm. My preference would be Beckett (also a surname I know), Bram, Brandon, Benedict or Baird.

Some combos I like;

Asher Beckett

Alexander Bram

Arthur Benjamin

Aaron Benjamin Gold is my favourite. I love the way I've heard Americans pronounce it, Aeron... sounds dreamy.

Alex and Andrew also seem like good solid names, though I'd have Alexander as the formal name and Alex informal. I prefer Alexander Gold, then Andrew Gold...

Asher Gold sounds odd, but I think that is obviously because your last name is a noun, so you have to be careful about that. And I don't like Allen Baxter or Bennett as I am not a fan of surnames as proper names. And I don't even know how to pronounce Aryeh, is it like area? Sorry :-)

I really like Allen, though I prefer the spelling Alan. I do worry that if he chooses to go by Al he'd be Al Gold, which sounds a lot like Al Gore, so if that's not a great association for you, I'd reconsider.

Aaron and Andrew are great, solid names. Alex feels like a nickname; go for the full Alexander. I'm a bit ambivalent toward Asher, and I agree with the other posters that Aryeh will be troublesome.

Benjamin is timeless, no complaints here. Bennet is also very nice. I'm lukewarm on Baxter because I know of a couple dogs with that name, but since it's going in the middle spot I don't think it'll be a big deal.

I honestly think you have a fantastic selection of AB names to choose from. Come up with a few combinations of first-middle you like and maybe see which one fits him when he come out.
