Help with baby girl name please

We find out next month if we're having a boy out a girl. I was trying to wait until then to decide but I'm losing sleep!

My first daughter's name is Rosalie Marie Jewell. Nn rose mostly sometimes Rosie.

I want a name that's pretty but also more on the rare side preferably with a cute nickname but not necessary. These are the ones we've been considering.

None of the names above got me as excited as Rosalie so i feel like i should keep looking. What do you guys think?

It sounds like you like ultra-feminine, almost princessy names. That's a very popular style right now, so you'll have to dig a bit deeper to find names that are really rare. Bella is still quite popular -- down from its peak a few years, but still in the top 100, and the statistics don't account for all the girls named Isabella, etc. who go by Bella. Adalyn is also quite common, if you account for all the spelling variations -- Adalynn, Adaline, Adeline, etc. -- as well as all the sound-alikes (Madeline, Addison) -- the general style is very trendy, even if no particular spelling is at the top of the charts. I do really like Ariella and Liana of your choices, which are both also quite a bit lower down the charts.

What do you think of the more unusual -bel names? Corabel, Clarabel, Mirabel, Christabel, Amabel, Arabel. If you want frillier, you can of course tack -la on the end (Corabella, Clarabella, Mirabella, Christabella, Amabella, Arabella), though I tend to prefer the sleeker look. Either way, that gets you your nickname of Bella with a more unusual fallback for a formal name.

You could also go for a longer form -liana name, with Liana as the nickname: Eliana, Emiliana, Liliana, Aureliana, Juliana (a nice nod to your own name, if it's your screen name, especially if you use Liana as a nickname to distinguish her). Many of these are *more* popular than just Liana, though, so that may be a factor.

On another thread we were just talking about the Greek -anthe names, which I think would be a good fit for you. It's pronounced ANN-thee and means "flower," so would be a nice subtle match with Rosalie. Calanthe (ca-LAN-thee, beautiful flower), Chrysanthe (cry-SAN-thee, golden flower), Evanthe (eh-VAN-thee, good flower), Dianthe (dye-ANN-thee, heavenly flower), Melanthe (meh-LAN-thee, black flower), Ianthe (eye-ANN-thee, violet flower).

I'll also throw out Aurelia, Amalthea, Amalia, Lavinia, Viviana, Callista, Evelina, Avelina, Lysandra, Leandra, Ariadne.

Thanks so much for your input. Eliana is very pretty as well as Liliana!! I'll run those by the hubs for sure.

Sadly "anthe" is not on my husband's list. He thinks it sounds harsh as an ending. We can't agree on a Bella name either which is why we settled on just Bella being our option but you're right, very popular....

I agree that you seem to like ultra-feminine sounding names.  Rosalie strikes me as more vintage than the other names on your list, so I wonder if you'd like other names with a more vintage feel?

Linnea strikes me as similar to Liana, but more classic and less common.

Some other ideas include Vivienne, Viviana, Sylvia, Lisette, Anneliese, Genevieve, Colette, Felicity, Gemma.

FWIW, I believe Rosalie & Bella were both characters in Twilight, so I'd expect some comments if you use these names together.

I like Adelyn from your list but prefer the spelling Adeline and pronouncing the end “line” rhymes with pine or mine.

What about Lucille or Vivian. Both of these names seem to fit the bill for you :)

Liana is ok,  Bella I prefer as a nn,  what about Arabella

I think Adeline goes better with Rosalie than Adalyn, but it is ok

Ariella is ok,  not sure it goes with Rosalie though

Gabriella  Eliana  Felicity Leticia  Liliana

Magdalena  Penelope  Evelina  Adelina

Anthea  Annalise  Annalise  Evangeline

Josephine  Lucinda  Genevieve

Delphine  Camilla Beatrice Beatrix

Congratulation! We are expecting twin girls and have settled on Behati and Tahira (if you like either of these)

Addalyn is nice, but Bella is actually quite popular.

other suggestions are: Lucia, Addison, Sharni, Mahaliah, Temperance, Kyra, Neveah, Talitha
