Hoping for baby 2, sib for Daphne Aurora

It has been a LONG time since I have posted (before the forums came around).  I'm glad to see some of the same people around though!

(is there some way to search just the forums?)

I have a 22 month old daughter, Daphne Aurora.  I love everything about the name-  Daphne is sweet, and strong, and spunky, feminine and complete.

Our last name is like Russel, but starts with a Pl. I'd like some feedback on the names we are considering from this amazing community.  And some new ideas.

For a boy, my husband is sold on Vaughn Isaac (he would have initials that spell VIP).  I worry that Vaughn would be mis-heard as John.  But I am ok with it.  I think Vaughn is handsome and classy.  We seem to like surname names. We can't use Graham, Gibson, Taran (to give you an idea of my taste).

For a girl, we like Colette. (not 100% sold though)  We already used Aurora for Daphne's middle, but think Colette Aurora is perfect.  I will not use the same middle for both girls though.  They will already have the same second middle name (my maiden).  As a middle with Colette, we like Sophia, Sylvia, Linnea, Vienna, Calista. We also like Lydia, Nadia, Tatiana, Gretchen, Kalista (ok, I like Gretchen and Kalista.  Hubby doesn't), Sylvie (with strong ee with Daph's name, don't want to end in ee).

Colette is so cute! Just be warned that actual French people will think it's annoyingly sweet, like how we would feel about a girl named Candy or Cindy-Lou (imagine a woman with a plaid shirt tied above her midrife with pigtails selling blueberry bpie int he south). My husband is from France and when I suggested this name he gave me this look of pity and patiently explained how the French feel about the names Cosette, Colette, Odette, Odelette, Claudette etc.

But if you live somewehere far away from Quebec or Central Europe then you're good to go. And you knwo what? 'Haters gonna hate', Colette is a beautiful name.

Thanks for the perspective!  Actual French expectations will not likely be a part of this child's life, but with the amount of movement nowadays, it is always great to find things like this out.

We should find out the gender soon!!!  Colette is still our top girl choice.
