How to Determine a Name's Popularity: Same Name-Seven Spellings ?

There are so many names with the same sound but several different spellings. What is the best way to ascertain a name's "true popularity," or in other words, how can I accurately determine the "frequency" with which a particular name will be heard called out on the playground or in the classroom based on SOUND not spelling?

Example: Caleigh, Callie, Cali, Calli, Kali, Kallie, Kaleigh, etc.

Thanks!

I don't think you can!  If they sound the same, I don't think it matters if they are spelled differently.  To me they are the same name.  The ones listed here may not all sound the same.  These could be Cal-ee or Kay-lee.  I think it would be horrible to have a name with so many spellings!

For me, Cal-ee should be Callie and Kay-lee should by Caylee.

Wow! Thanks for this link!  I don't have time to look through the whole list at this time, but I only saw a few names with a single spelling!  Harper, Hope, Fernanda, Olive, and Gloria...

That is awesome! I had been wondering about this too! Is there one for boys names somewhere also?

Unbelievable.  Some of the alternative spellings are completely ridiculous!  Great link!
