Is it weird?

So, we are thinking of naming our baby girl Claire. But the problem is that our last name is Vaughan.

Does Claire Vaughan to close to clairvoyant?

I don't get clairvoyant from Claire Vaughan at all.  Vaughan just doesn't sound like voyant.  If you are concerned, perhaps Clara would break it up enough for you?

No, I don't get that at all.  Claire is a lovely name.  Go for it!

Vaughan is one of those names that I've never been entirely sure how to say. Is it one syllable or two, and what sound (if any) does the 'gh' make?

If the vowel sounds are anywhere close to what I think they are, then no, Claire Vaughan doesn't sound much like clairvoyant to me. There's a slight resemblance, but only because you pointed it out; I don't think I would have thought of it on my own.

I've always heard Vaughan said with one syllable, rhymes with lawn-Vawn.

I wouldn't have even thought about it sounding like calirvoyant if you hadn't mentioned it, so no.

Yeah my mind went there immediately. However, I don't think it needs to be a deal breaker.

I don't make that connection even with it pointed out.  I think Claire is lovely.
