Jonah and Lily?

We recently found out that we're expecting our second child. My son's name is Jonah Samuel, and I am still absolutely in love with the name. If this new baby is a boy, we're leaning toward Isaac or Eli(Elias/Elijah) - others on our list were Nathan and Leo.

If it's a girl, my husband recently told me that he likes Lily. Which is news to me, because he's never really expressed any particular feelings about girls' names at all till now! I do like it, because it shares a meaning with my own name, which is a nice connection, and it has some positive personal and biblical associations for me. Another pro is that I'd like to find a French middle name as a nod to my heritage, and I feel like that would work well with Lily.

But, I feel like it's FAR more popular than Jonah, and I'm not sure if the names really fit together. I don't want them to seem like they were named by totally different people...

What do you guys think?? Am I overthinking...?

Yes, you are overthinking a bit. :-)

Sibling names don't need a theme beyond "names the parents agreed on", and besides, Jonah and Lily are both classic, fairly timeless names that are currently well-liked, so I can easily see them as siblings.

I know two young girls named Lily; one has a brother Decl@n and a sister Cor@, the other has two brothers, J@cob and J@mes. (Yes, the same name twice. No, I don't think the parents have a clue.)

Yep.  I agree with all of this.  Jonah & Lily are lovely together.

This. There's nothing wrong with an ecclectic sibling-set, and I think Jonah and Lily sound lovely together.

The main character in The Giver is named Jonas, and he has a little sister named Lily. That's my primary association (even though Jonah isn't quite Jonas), but the book isn't really mainstream.

I think they are very nice together. In fact it has quite the flow.  I say go with it!

In my pocket of the country I know as many Jonahs as Noahs so to me it isn't a super uncommon name, and I think it flows fine with Lily. If you name your kid Elijah that's even higher up the list than Lily ;)

Out of our older kids, we have a middle name Samuel, a middle name Nathaniel, and Elias and Leo were both on my boy love list...saying that, Lily isn't my absolute favorite L name (I posted on here recently asking for L.V. initials) but as someone with a similar naming taste it really does fit well together!

I think Jonah and Lily make a nice sibling name set.
