My name is Lelia...I was named for my grandmother who was born in 1900. She was named after an old English aunt of the family. I have to tell people, because they always ask, my name is Lelia, rhymes with Celia, they usually get it. I have always loved the heritage of my name, no matter how difficult it has been for other people to pronounce. I actually have a friend with the same name, Lelia, here in Houston...what are the odds?

Cool name :) I'm always coming across the original Latin form, Laelia, in lists of Roman names, but I've never met a Lelia or Laelia in real life. Good to know it's out there!

Especially with a history like that, I'm so glad that you're not looking to change it, which is usually why people come here to talk about their own names!
