Tess vs Kay
We've narrowed down our girl names to either Tess Elisabeth or Kay Elisabeth. Both Tess and Kay are family names. we have concerns about Tess being called Tess-ticle and Kay beig irritated by the use of "okay" and "k". Does anyone have personal experience with either name they could share? Our 16-month old son is named Tate. Thanks in advance!!!

Wow. I never in a million years would have come up with Tess-ticle. I went to preschool with a Tessa and high school with a Theresa who went by Tess. Obviously in the former, none of us were old enough to be generating that kind nickname, and I never heard anyone suggest anything of the kind in the latter case.
I think Tess is a sweet, snappy name that you shouldn't fear using. Kay is also pretty but it does give me a more mid-century vibe. A few of my friends' moms are named Kay. Not necessarily a terrible thing, but there you have it.
I agree. I've known several people with the nickname Tess and at no point was that ever an issue. Worrying about Tess-ticle is overthinking it.
Yes. This. My only instant thought with Tess is:
a) so pretty!
b) Tess of the D'Urbervilles (required reading back when I was in high school)
I really like Tess and have never heard anyone make that reference. I think she'll be pretty safe but of course no name is completely safe from getting made fun of! I'm not a fan of repeating initials though, so I would vote Kay over Tess since you have a Tate. They're both simple, sweet and lovely!
I don't think Tess would be problematic. I know a little Tessa and a Tessla that both go by Tess and I don't think that they've ever encountered the issue you're concerned about :)
