Thoughts on Alister? Or Everett?

My husband & I definitely want a unique name but it seems Everett is on the rise! We have a daughter named Harper & it's seems it's the new Ashley:/ I'm loving Alister & it's not popular  but is that because it just doesnt sounds good? Too much of a grandpa name? Any other suggestions? A unique & very uncommon name that goes with Harper? Boy names are SO hard!!

Do you mean Alistair? I actually love it (but my son is Alexander, so that's a no-go). I do know 3 under age 3 (one is a girl -- Allistaire), so it seems as though it may be an up and coming name also, but I don't think it will hit the popularity that Harper has.

I suggest digging into your family tree, for unusual names. I've got an Ephraim and a Junius in mine, not to mention a Millard (middle name Fillmore - yes really - went by MF).

And then there are the surnames, which might also be your style, used as a first name (both Everett and Harper seem to fit that pattern.) In my own family, there's West,  which might work.

Unique names are just so much cooler to me if they have some history, so picking something off your family tree, or your husband's is a great approach.

I think Alistair and Everett are both good, though, and not too popular.
