Thoughts on Girl #1

After many long months of debating, my husband and I finally decided on the name Anorah for our little girl due in May. We are both totally in love with it and have had great reactions from both of our families. Because it is such an uncommon name and a form of the very rare Honora, I am seeking your thoughts and reactions towards this name as I had never heard it until about two months ago. Thanks :) Also, we have had a great deal of trouble with middle names and any suggestions would be appreciated- a fresh set of eyes can often be a great thing :)

If you both love it, that's really all that matters. Congratulations! I have never heard the name before but think it's pretty and fits in well with current trends. Any one-syllable middle name would sound good (Anorah Mae, Anorah Jean, Anorah Grace, etc.), but I don't think flow matters very much if you're trying to honor someone with the middle name.

Anorah is lovely!  I would personally probably go with the more traditional Honora, but that is just a preference.

With a rare first name, she may want a more common middle name.  I would go with either a very short name or a very long name.

Anorah Jane

Anorah May

Anorah Kate

Anorah Dove

Anorah Brynn

Anorah Capri

Anorah Elizabeth

Anorah Juliana

Anorah Evangeline

I think Anorah is lovely!!!

I think Anorah would best work with a two syllable name where the emphasis is on the second syllable. You may not like the suggestions below, but they illustrate the flow...

Anorah Giselle

Anorah Celeste

Anorah Justine (nice meaning Honour and Justice)

Anorah Elise

Anorah Renée

Anorah Colette

Anorah Yvette

Anorah Denise

I instantly thought of Anorah May/Mae/Mai, Anorah Esmeralda (for the emerald, the birthstone for May) and also thought I'd ask what your favourite flower is? I always get the most beautiful lilac blooms in May. Anorah Lilac. It is a time of rebirth, and the French name Reneé means rebirth. Anorah Reneé. Or where you met your partner or had your honeymoon or a special trip together could have some naming significance towards a middle name... Many place names make great people names. Though obviously this is private so don't feel obligated to share that. But it might give you some ideas to come back with?

Anorah is a lovely name, spelled the way you say Honora, and so you won't get people saying the H, but you might get the reverse issue in that people will automatically spell it Honora as you say it to them. But this is a minor thing really. I'm happy for you both that you have decided on a name, which can be a challenging feat in today's ever widening array of options. I hope you find a meaningful (to you) middle name that you both love as equally as the wonderous Anorah. :-)

I love it! I'm torn between Nora and Eleanora as my favorite girl's name so I also really like Anorah. I think a lot of middle names would sound nice with it, do you have any family names that you're considering or a theme (like nature for example)?
