Trouble with boy names

Hi everybody :)

I've decided to ask for input and help or suggestions, whichever you may have. I'm a few days from being halfway through my pregnancy and still can't come up with boy names that fit with my other children, DH is on board with and I really love. My other two are Lyla and Abel. I didn't realize until after my son was born they both had 4 letter names that ended and began with the others first and last letters. For a while I felt like I should at least come up with a name that's 4 letters to match his siblings but at this point I just want a name that I feel really good about. Oh and DH can come around to.

Though his name doesn't need to be 4 letters long I would still prefer a not so long name, say like Sebastian, one ive always liked but feel is much too long now.

Gender will remain unknown but I have a few girl names I absolutely adore and DH actually agrees with so I'm really only stumped on boy names.

Boy names in my list: Julian (top contender since preg #1 but DH won't budge), Ezekiel, Moses, Jethro, Odin, Marcus, Felix and Julius (It's close to Julian :))

If anyone has any suggestions feel free to throw em' my way.

I agree that Sebastian would be a bit of a surprise after Lyla and Abel.  But on the whole, it's more important to find a name that speaks to you and your husband than to try to match your older kids.  A relatively short name might be good, but i wouldn't worry even the littlest bit about the A and L.  (Of course, now that i've said that, i'm suddenly obsessed with finding 4-letter boys' names with an A and an L in the middle.  Clay?  Gale?)  Probably no one else will notice that similarity anyway--and two of something doesn't make a pattern.  Also: despite their identical length, Abel and Lyla aren't the same style, so there should be less pressure.

My favorite from your list is Felix.  I also like Julian, Julius, and Jethro.  I think of Marcus as a little boring/lackluster.  Ezekiel and Moses make too strong a religious statement for my taste (not just because they're Biblical--Moses because of Moses, and Ezekiel because it's long), but if that doesn't bother you, there's nothing wrong with them.  Odin reminds me too much of Garfield's canine companion.

Other short boys' names:
Jonas, Simon, Levi, Ezra, Cyrus, Saul, Owen, Jude, Graham, Xavier, Quentin, Pierce, Edgar, Tristan, Nico, Victor, Cedric, Brooks

I like Felix for you.  If you really wanted to keep the 4-letter thing going, perhaps just Zeke instead of Ezekiel?  I'll also suggest Abram, Milo, Matteo, Marius, Levi, Owen, Jude, Silas, Myles, Luca, Asher, Hugh, Hugo.

If husband won't budge on Julian, I would be surprised if he was OK with Julius.  But perhaps you could sell him on Julia for a girl?

I also like Felix from your list & think it would make an excellent brother name to Lyla & Abel. Neither would I worry about a pattern that would match the previous two.

some suggestions:

Rufus

Rex

Edward (long-ish but still shortened sweetly to Ned.)

Rain

Coe (I know a guy with this name and he's so good a guy, I'd love to know there's another out there.)

Nash

I hope these help!

Thankyou for the suggestions everyone, I'm starting to let go of the 4 letter pattern, perhaps I've been over thinking it. I am open to other names just not exceptionally long with the other two. I know a lot of people are liking Felix, I just added it on to my short list last night thinking why not, I do like the x sound at the end but still only warming up to it.

Names suggested we cannot use are Max and Edward (cousins' name) and Otto (a deceased pet) but I'm gonna look into a few like Ezra, one I've always find intriguing but never considered because I thought was too out there. I've also noticed its gaining some popularity.

i suppose I should let go of Julian/us it's just so hard.

I was playing with plugging the middle letters of your older kids' names into the name finder - so starts with y, b, or e and ends with a, b, e, l, or y, max length 4.

Ezra comes up, naturally, but other possibilities might be Earl or Emil. Slightly further afield, there's Eloy, Bode, Emry, Elia, or Yale. Or Bede, if you're feeling medieval. (With both Emry and Elia, you'd need to be prepared for people who assume "girl" - they're definitely masculine names, but their sound matches current fashions for feminine names.) Béla also fits the pattern, but I wouldn't suggest that to anyone without Hungarian ancestry, Mr. Fleck notwithstanding.

I was going through the Baby Names Blog before I came here, and a name I saw on one of the posts I think would really work here. Since you love the name Julian, maybe a shorter version, or just a nickname. I too love Julian and when I came across this name I thought that I could totally use it if I end up naming my baby Julian. THe name is Jules. It's short and simple, not yet four letters, but at a close five. If your husband likes Julius better than Julian, then the s ending in Jules might apeal to him as well.
