Update

Thank you all for the lovely discussion of the names Sarah, Lucy and Grace. But ultrasound showed boy #6! That’s four boys in a row for us.

I had already decided on Thomas for a boy. I’m delighted to use it! The only slight question is his middle name. I am 95% decided on Gregory which is a family name and matches style wise very well with our other kids first and middle names. I am slightly tempted to go with the name Cyprian just because my dh and I both love it so much.

Congrats! Four boys, goodness!

Cyprian is way out there, but when it's in the middle name slot it doesn't really matter. Since you and your husband both love it, I would seriously consider using it. You may regret it if you don't. On the other hand, middle names always get bonus points for being family names, and Gregory is much more solid and well-established. It comes down to what's more important to you.

You could also do a double-barrelled middle, but you should probably talk to someone who has lived with two middles before making that decision. I've heard it's quite difficult. Nevertheless, you could use both the quirky middle and the family middle.

Congratulations! I really like Thomas Cyprian, but Thomas Gregory is also nice. This is a good choice to have to make.

Yay for another Thomas! :)

Gregory vs. Cyprian is a bacon vs. chocolate decision to me. Thomas Gregory is classic and solid, Thomas Cyprian is fun and unexpected. I like the flow of Thomas Gregory better, with the s and the soft C running into each other and the -n ending echoing your last name, but a lot of people will say that flow with middle names doesn't matter and Cyprian is a super cool and distinctive middle name choice, so maybe it's a worthwhile trade-off.

I always get excited when I hear someone has a really ”out-there” middle name like Cyprian, but I know your other kids have traditional names so you really can’t go wrong.
