What did the astrophysicist name his daughter?

We've all seen those laffy taffy type jokes. "What did the hamburger flipper name his daughter? Patty! What did the lifeguard name his daughter? Sandy!" I know a couple who did this for real. My cousin married an astrophysicist. Then they had to go and name their first daughter...wait for it...Nova. A few months back I was hanging out with them at the planetarium and she pulled down a star globe and started calling out name suggestions. "What do you think of Leo? Casiopeia? Andromeda?" Now she's pregnant again. Let's see where they take this.

I think that's great! Lots of options in astronomy.

What mk said, exactly! I married an astronomer, too, and while we didn't do astronomy names, we definitely talked about all the great options, especially if one is also excited about mythology.

When we found out I was having a girl, my husband wanted to honor his grandmother, her name was Ursula-Marie. But after a while the name just did not fit.

I'm a devoted star gazer, (no astrophysicist,) so I suggested a compromise.

She was born Jan 30 this year, Evelyn Marie Ursa

I was pregnant while my husband was in law school (now a lawyer).  We tossed around names and loved one, but his initials would have been LAW.  It was too cheesy for us.  I was determined not to make a joke of my kid.  His initials are EJW... didn't think you could make that something bad.... until the first day of daycare when they put EW on everything.   I named my kid Ewwww  NOOOOOOOOOO
