Which middle?

Which middle would you use with our last name Brenner?  Both are family names but on different sides.  Or, would you put Pierce as the middle since its only one syllable though we want to exclusively use that name the name he goes by.

Pierce Allen Brenner

Pierce Lachlan Brenner

These are both good! No wonder it's hard to decide. I think Allen is more traditionally a middle name, so the whole thing together sounds very classic and conservative. Pierce Allen Brenner could be a Supreme Court justice. Lachlan as a middle name is one I have not heard before, but it sounds good too. Pierce Lachlan Brenner across to me as a bit fancier and a bit younger. I can see a Pierce Lachlan Brenner being interviewed on Inside the Actor's Studio.

Hope that helps! Don't think you can go wrong with either of these.

If Pierce is the name you wish to call your son, then I would use it as the first name for the sake of ease - I think the practical aspects far outweigh any perceived flow issues (though I say Pierce with two syllables so the names flow really nicely for me!).

Based on the name alone, I like Pierce Lachlan. However, family name meaning trumps everything for me, so I would go with whichever name represented the person who was most important/significant/close, or the side of the family that is yet to be represented in your boys' names.

Lachlan. It sets the "boundaries" of each name for me, while Allan seems to flow with Pierce, sounding more like one name. :)
