Which spelling?

Which spelling do you like better: Aislin or Aislinn (ASH-lin)?  I think I slightly prefer Aislinn. I don't care for the trendy Ashlyn or the -g ending in Aisling, even though Aisling is the traditional Irish spelling (Aislinn is a popular Irish spelling too).

What middle names would sound good with it when paired with my last name, McDonald? I was thinking Jane in memory of one of my great-aunts who passed away from liver cancer almost two years ago and in honor of my mom Janet, but I'd like more suggestions.

Either one or two middle names is fine.

The spelling issue is a hard one. Like you I think I prefer Aislinn over Aislin. Aislinn Jane is a very nice name.

For other middle name ideas do you have anyone else you would like to honour? Without that a few ideas below...

Variants of Jane... Janelle, Janice, Jayne, Jean, Jeanne, Jeanna, Joan, Joanne, Joanna, Johanna, Jonelle, Iovanna, Sheena, Shawna, Shevon, Shavonne, Jana, Gianna, Yanna, Johanne, Sian.

Sophie, Marie, Grace, Lucy, Estelle, Lauren, Katherine, Noelle, Elizabeth, Faith, Faye.

I like Aislinn Jean.  That would honor my late paternal grandmother Regina.  She went by Jeannie.  An aunt was named Regina too and she went by Gina.  I also like Aislinn Sophie and Aislinn Elizabeth (maternal great-aunt) from your suggestions.

As for other honor names,  I like Rose (3rd cousin), Stephanie (family friend), Mary/Margaret (maternal grandmother, and a cousin), and Helena (Helen was my maternal grandmother's middle name and the first name of one of my 3rd cousins.  But because Aislinn and Helen end in -n, I chose Helena).

Of those two, I like Aislinn better, though really my favorite is still the traditional Aisling.

I really like Aislinn Jane or Aislinn Jean.

You also mentioned a Rose you might honor with the middle name. Since you say you're open to two middle names, I'll suggest Aislinn Rosa Jane or Aislinn Rosa Jean. I slightly prefer the sound of Aislinn Rosa Jane, but since Jean honors multiple people that makes it the better choice, in my opinion. Aislinn Helena is also lovely.

I like when people choose honor names for middle names, so I don't think you really need to look at other middle name options beyond honor names and variants to use as honor names.
