Our son's name is Ander and his brother just started calling him Andy!
Thanks for all the feedback! I don't think that we'll completely rule out Ander yet, but you've given us more to think about. Now I'll have to get back to the drawing board to hopefully find some more names my husband might like!
I don't think Anders is clunky, but our last name definitely is. As much as I like Anders, the addition of the 's' just doesn't flow with our last name as well as without. I suggested Archer to my husband, but he is turned off because of the animated TV show by that name.
I wasn't aware of the Dutch or German language meaning, so thanks for the information. We have relatives in Germany, so we'll definitely have to give that some thought!
We have a Carys that was born in 2009, and the meaning "love" fits her perfectly!
Thanks everyone for the feedback! I think we are both loving Annabelle Scott, even though the spelling may change. For a boy, we aren't in complete agreement yet, but we are keeping Declan and William/Liam on the list, as neither of us hate the other's choice! We are also really considering Soren. We initially ruled out any -en or -an endings because of our last name, but this is still a name we both really like. Would Soren Scott be too much? Other options for middle name would be David or Thomas, thoughts? Also, still open to new ideas for boys. I liked the suggestion of Cormac and Levi. Both were on my list until husband vetoed.
Lisette was my plan for the middle name if it is a girl, as it's a perfect blend of my sister's names. It also has the old-fashioned sound that matches the middles of our first two, Delphine and Alice. But I just don't like it with Annabelle, and I don't think I want to go back to the drawing board for another first name :)
Our last name rhymes with Vancullen, so any -an or -en sounding ending doesn't flow well. I do love Lincoln, but again it just doesn't sound right for us. Thanks for your help!
I agree about Thomas Scott. We both have brothers named David, so that would probably the middle name if we decided on Thomas or any other name ending in S. I really like Nora Leanne. My middle name isn't my favorite, but I do love the combination. Thanks!
Thomas is definitely growing on me. Especially if he can just go by Thomas or I don't mind Tommy. We both liked Ronan, but it doesn't sound good with our last name. I like Penelope and Isla, so I'll have to run those by my husband. And I agree about Nora without the H if that's the more traditional route, so thanks for the feedback!
I like the Annabelle Tamsin suggestion. I've also always liked Tatum, so that too could be a nod to Thomas also. We have Mary and David on both sides, so those could be some options to look into as well. Thanks for the suggestions!
Thanks Linnaeus and Zoerhenne for your suggestions. Of those I think my favorites are Evangeline, Annika, Stella and Celina. I also liked the middle name suggestion of Elise - that kind of combines the sounds of all the family names we were thinking of using.
I'll have to run these by my husband and see what he thinks. He's always very quick to veto names, so when I find one he actually likes then I consider it! Lately his picks have been pretty popular though and with Carys being uncommon I'm having a hard time pairing them together.
@curiouslike, there will be no absurd notations in either of my daughter's names! ;) Linnaeus was correct - I was trying to avoid a search for her actual name. Thanks!
I need some name advice. Everyone here was so helpful with feedback on names for our first, so I'm excited to get your input on names for our second! We are expecting our second girl in early September. Our first daughter is Cary$ Delph!ne. Her first name we just loved and the middle name is my grandmothers. So far, my husband and I haven't been able to agree on a name that we both love. We haven't ruled anything out yet, but I don't love his picks and he doesn't love mine!
Evelyn nn. Evy
Alina nn. Alli
We will likely choose a middle name from his side of the family. Some options are Alice, Elaine, Louise.
I appreciate any suggestions you may have for us! Thanks!
