I love Gideon, too, but my husband...not so much! Ha! We ended up getting quite a few possibilities together after I posted this. So far we've got:
Andrew (he doesn't like but I love)
Abraham (i don't like but he loves)
Aye yi yi.
Biblical/Arabic are a great zone to focus on but certainly not a requirement (Alina doesn't fit the mold, for instance). Primarily, we'd like something easy to pronounce by both my midwest American family and his Indian family (no prominent Vs/Ws).
I do like Benjamin and Solomon has come up, but neither has risen to the top just yet. I love Jacob, but so far my husband has rejected that one as well. Aaron is a great suggestion, too. Would Solomon nn Sam be too much of a stretch?
Only other specific criteria I have is nothing invented (recently...I suppose all names were invented at one point) and no kr8v spellings. :). Thank you VERY much for the suggestions thusfar. I do love your name and I am sort of hoping this one is a girl simply so we can use Miriam :).
Oh, and not Samson...
I love the name Calvin -I have for years. If my husband's family didn't interchange pronunciation of Vs and Ws, I would lobby for that one (his family is Indian).
