I LOVE Rain as a name.. if you want to make it a bit more girly, but keep the same sound, you could go with Rayne or Raine as well.  Middle Name ideas:

Rain Elise

Rain Ciara

Rain Giselle

Rain Kiara

Rain Malia

Rain Scarlette

Rain Willow

I have a very good friend with 3 daughters, and the youngest is Amaris.  The other two are Aviana and Sahara - not sure if you like either of those for your list. :)

Laura.. is there any way to tell what percentage of all names are represented in the top 1000 vs. previous years? Or, maybe it would be easier to see what percentage of all names the top 1000 represent verses all names given by the SS administration each year. I just ask because we continue to see a trend of original/creative/unusual, etc. names.. and I wonder how big of a trend this is vs. years past. Neither of my kids (ages 3 & 1) are in the top 1000.. so this is an interesting topic for me. Thanks for the great blog!

I think the Caylee name has less to do with the story behind the little girl, and more to do with the over-all trend of names that start with the "Cay" or "Kay" sound and end with the "Lee" or "Leigh" sound.. which is a LOT of names right now. I bet if you polled all of the parents who named their daughter Caylee this year, less then 5% of them would say it had anything to do with the little girl from Florida. Most would probably say that they liked the sound of the name, they have a friend named Katie, and thought Caylee was a good honor, etc. Just guessing of course!
